Shopify vs. Volusion: A Battle For The Best UI

Are you thinking of creating an online store to sell your products? Well, if you are, then you have two great options: Shopify and Volusion. These two platforms are great options for creating an eCommerce website, but which one has better user interface (UI)?

The Overview: What Are Shopify and Volusion?

Shopify is a platform that provides everything needed to create an online store, from templates to payment processing. It handles all the difficult parts of setting up an ecommerce site, making it one of the easiest to navigate for a beginner. Volusion provides the same services, acting as a complete ecommerce site builder.

Both platforms are designed to be easy to use, and their features are focused on helping small business owners rather than large corporations or developers.

User Interface Comparison

Dashboard

The dashboard is the first thing you see when you log in to your ecommerce account, and it's vital for quick access. Shopify's dashboard is clean, uncluttered, and modern. It lets you see relevant information clearly, highlights sales information and significant events, and allows you to manage your store from a single location.

On the other hand, Volusion's dashboard is well-organized and easy to navigate, but it looks a bit dated when compared to Shopify's more modern look. Users can still easily access all their store's data, including orders, products, and site visitors, via the dashboard, albeit with fewer options than Shopify.

Navigation

Navigation is a significant part of any UI. Shopify has a straightforward navigation system. Its menu is easy to use, provides quick access to any main page on the platform, and is conveniently located on the left side of the screen. That being said, I love its drag-and-drop feature, which allows users to effortlessly rearrange items without the need for coding knowledge.

Volusion has a similar system, but it requires more clicks to achieve the same objectives than Shopify's.

Pricing

One of the most important UI factors is pricing. Shopify's pricing system is flexible and scalable, providing four plans to suit businesses of all shapes and sizes, starting at just $29 per month. It also offers a free 14-day trial.

Volusion's pricing model is fixed. To get started with Volusion, you need to pay a $29 monthly fee. For larger businesses, higher-tier plans are available, but all plans offer the same essential features.

Our Verdict

Overall, Shopify has the best user interface for beginners or anyone who wants an easy-to-use platform with versatile navigation choices, among other features. Meanwhile, Volusion's UI is still efficient but might be a little challenging to get around due to more complex navigation choices and an outdated look.

It's safe to say that both Shopify and Volusion have a lot to offer, especially to small business owners. Therefore, when deciding which among the two you should use, it ultimately boils down to your budget and preferences.
